OMCC/DFN Partnership

Operation Mercy Charitable Company, together with their Christian partners, the All India Christian Council, had in 2001 committed to assist the 250 million Dalits (untouchables) of India in their quest for spiritual and economic freedom from the caste system prevalent in India. The mission was to provide quality education for children, health clinics for families, and economic development for villages focused on the Dalits.

In this endeavor, Cherry Hills Community Church located in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, USA, and other churches and donors began to provide much needed funds to OMCC for the creation of Dalit Education Centers (DEC).

The Dalit Educational Center is the focus of Operation Mercy Charitable Company’s efforts – and includes purchased land, school buildings for quality English-based education, space for a medical clinic and economic development training center.

One of the first DECs was built in Bagadia, in the State of Orissa, leading the way for over 60 DECs planned throughout India.   See Exhibit 1 for a detailed map of the Dalit Education Centers in IndiaThrough the Dalit Freedom Network (the American partner to the All India Christian Council), Cherry Hills and other US churches conducted numerous medical and dental short-term clinics in India since 2001, most recently assisting in the Tsunami relief effort in the southeast Indian coastal area.  See Exhibit 2 for details of DFN leadership.........
